Vladdy’s Painful Return

Vladimir Guerrero returned to Angels stadium, and Angels fans were very respectful. The experience, however, was filled with mixed emotions. Part of me wonders why Vlad decided this season, to lose weight and perform to his full ability.

Hideki Matsui

Last Week: Avg (.429), HR (2), R (4), RBI (6), OPS (1.229)

Hideki Matsui has definitely picked up the slack after the loss of Kendry Morales. Matsui’s success in the middle of that order will be crucial for the Angels down the stretch.

The Time For Change is Now!

The Angels are treading water, but regardless of any changes Scioscia makes throughout the season, they will get better. They are a good team and that will show eventually. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion. In my dream (but very scary) scenario where I am the Angels manager, there are four changes that I would make to the Angels roster.

Angels get an early Godsend in Godzilla

Minnesota Twins at Anaheim Angels

The first week of the Angels’ 2010 season has had its ups and its fair share of downs. But most of the ups to date can be directly attributed to Hideki Matsui (with honorable mention to Jered Weaver’s two ace-like starts). The 35-year-old free agent acquisition has proven to be everything his reputation echoes, delivering big hits in big spots when his team needed them in a big way. The Angels’ 1-4 start – its worst since 1992 – was looming over the Big A in a tension-filled bottom of the ninth, and last year’s World Series MVP calmly stepped up and did what he seemingly always does; deliver. Two wins, two game-winning RBIs courtesy of Godzilla. It should look familiar to anyone who watched the 2009 World Series, where, in a lineup full of All-Stars and future Hall of Famers, it was Matsui who delivered most of the Yankees’ biggest – and timeliest – heavy punches.
