The Los Angeles Angels were the big winner in Week 10. They earned a respectable road split with Oakland and swept the Dodgers. While an inter-league win does not help as much as a win within the division, the fact that the Angels won 3 games when they were expected to win 1 of 3 helped them pick up nearly 14 percent in the playoff race.

Texas led the American League with a +10.6 percentage point improvement in playoff probability after going 4-2 including taking 2 of 3 over Tampa Bay. It is surprising to see Texas with such a solid 64% lead in the AL West race considering they are just 0.5 a game ahead of the Angels (+3.1 percent this week) and 1 game ahead of Oakland.

The Angels probably lost Kendry Morales after he broke a foot celebrating a game winning Grand Slam. This lost combined with the painful resurgence of Vlad Guerrero in Texas seems to indicate the Angels may be cursed this year.

The Yankees had a rough week. They dropped one of two at home to Boston, they lost 2 to the Rays and even lost 2 of 3 to the Mets. With Tampa Bay and Boston going a combined 11-3 in the week the Yankees dropped over 25 points in the playoff race.
