I was at the game last night with my 9-year-old son. We were on the field level, left field, in fair territory deep behind the foul pole. Our seats were very close to where I sat for game 2 of the 2002 World Series. I have been to over 200 Angel games, including several playoffs wins and losses. Last night’s game, from before the first pitch, was matched only by the World Series in fan enthusiasm and intensity.
Every strike against the Red Sox was cheered; each ball for the Halos as well. Any cheer of “lets go Red Sox!” was drowned out before the second refrain. When Torii hit that blast, it was no different than Tim Salmon’s homer 7 years earlier.
To conclude, it was a great night to be an Angel fan. If they stay focused on the moment, this team can do some great things in the next 3 weeks.
